Providing Information for               Decision Making

Focus Groups

Focus Groups:  8-12 people with defined characteristics gather together for a discussion on the marketing issues, led by a trained moderator.  This method works well in the fact-finding stage, for generating ideas and for evaluating products or concepts, which need to be experienced or discussed.  The information gathered is qualitative and not representative of the entire population.  Proper sample definition and selection is critical.

Great Lakes Marketing offers focus group moderation as part of our full-service marketing research capabilities.  Lori M. Dixon, PhD, is an experienced and skilled focus group moderator.  Dr. Dixon is available to discuss your qualitative marketing research needs with you and make appropriate recommendations to answer your marketing information needs.

Focus Groups at Our Office:

Great Lakes Marketing is equipped to accommodate focus groups containing up to 12 respondents.

The focus group room is 16 x 20, located in an office building.  The viewing room is 15 x 16 with a 4 x 8 mirror, and seats seven observers.  We also have the ability to accommodate in a separate room, another seven observers. Observation there would be via closed circuit television.

The Focus groups can be video/DVD and audio taped if desired.

Recruiting can be done by our central location interviewing staff.  All selected respondents will receive follow-up contact to insure an adequate show rate.

We also have a trained and experienced focus group moderator available, or you are welcome to provide your own group moderator.

Meals and or snacks can be catered for respondents and observers.

Focus Groups Off-site:

Our staff can arrange focus groups to take place in the cities of your choice.  Our moderator has facilitated many off-site focus groups with great success.  As with focus groups on-site, our staff can recruit your respondents or you may elect to have your staff do that. All selected respondents that we recruit will receive follow-up contact to insure an adequate show rate.
